ABOUT US

My name is David J. Newman. I was born and raised here in SW Denver, going through the Denver Public School system. After graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School, I went to University of Colorado, Boulder, to get my Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology.

Two years after marrying my “high school sweetheart”, Paula, we moved to Fullerton, California, where I attended Southern California College of Optometry. I graduated with my Doctor of Optometry degree four years later. The training in school was heavily geared toward contact lenses & how to fit them successfully. Because of this training and background, contact lenses have become my area of expertise.

After moving back to Denver, I worked in several office settings in the Metro area, gaining a lot of experience, especially in contact lens fitting. Two years later, I joined the practice of Dr. John Denhof, called Vision Lab. After Dr. Denhof retired, we expanded the name to Vision Lab Family Eyecare.15 years later I moved the practice to Englewood City Center and changed the name to Englewood Eyecare.

Our son, Danny, was born in California a month into my first year in school.

I have been a member of Englewood Lions Club for over 20 years. I have been President of our club two times and am currently our club’s Secretary.

Rhonda Jacobson, our optician, has been in the Optical Business just about the same amount of time as myself. We have been working together for over 15 years. Unlike in many offices, Rhonda went to school to learn the optical field. She was born and raised in Pipestone, MN. After attending Granite Falls Community College in Granite Falls, MN, Rhonda found herself in Brookings, South Dakota working in the eyecare field as an optician for Dr. Johnson. Two years later, Rhonda, moved to Denver. She is married to Jon and they have three children: Nick, Alex, and Rachel.

Nicole Roberts has been with me for over two years now. She is my insurance specialist and the smiling face you will see when you step up to the reception desk. Nikky was born in Denver, attended school at Arapahoe Community College, studying the eyecare field. When Nikky isn’t figuring out insurance benefits, answering the phones, or greeting patients as they walk in the door, she will be helping you select your frames, or teaching you the basic principles of successful contact lens wear. Nikky’s husband is Dan.
